All of us at Become a DJ view DJ’ing as an artform - a form of self expression and a way to connect - as long as it’s approached in the right way. That’s why we put a lot of love into teaching our students to master the decks as if they were any other instrument, and to beatmatch by ear, all of which takes time, dedication and patience, but is incredibly rewarding if you choose to stick at it.
Our DJ courses (CDJ or vinyl) are suitable for complete beginners looking to take their love for electronic music to the next level, as well as more experienced DJs wanting to develop or refine their skills. Each session lasts for two-hours and is on a one-to-one basis, ensuring you have the full attention of your instructor. Lessons are available 7 days per week up to 11pm and are on a pay as you go basis. The student has the option to learn on the technology of their choice, from the industry standard Pioneer CDJs or vinyl turntables.
Complete beginner? A full course lasts around 12 sessions and will prepare you to perform in front of a crowd. If you already have some experience then our courses can be tailored to your needs depending on any existing skills or experience you may have. Whether you need assistance with looping and hot cues, or help building sets and record mixes, our instructors can assist you. If you want to step it up from your bedroom using controllers and laptop DJing (Traktor/Serato), and learn to use industry standard Pioneer CDJs, we welcome you to come for a free introductory session and discuss your goals with a Become A DJ instructor who will advise and plan your lessons.
Before proceeding, we’ll ask you to come into the studio to meet with one of our instructors, discuss your goals and make a plan for how to reach them.
Students also get a discount on studio hire, so you can come in and practice your skills and record mixes once you’re ready to.

“The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.” (Brene Brown)
The world of electronic music production is vast and if you’re a beginner, knowing where to start can be a challenge in itself. If you’ve already begun your journey with production, it’s easy to find yourself stuck at a crossroads, unsure about which way to turn and what the next steps should be.
Whatever stage you’re at, our production courses are designed to break all of this potentially headache inducing confusion down into simple bite size chunks, making things as easy as possible to digest so you can progress with your journey and enjoy the beautiful process of creating.
Alongside developing your technical knowledge and understanding, including how to put this into practice, your instructor will work with you to understand what inspires you and how to translate this into your own music. How to discover new ideas and put them into practice is a big part of lessons, with the end goal being to have completed tracks which are ready to be sent to labels.
All production lessons are delivered on a one-to-one basis, kick-starting with a meeting with one of our instructors, during which you can discuss your goals and design a plan for your lessons. Depending on the project, in as little as just four sessions armed with your ideas and the assistance of our Ableton Trainer, your goals will become a reality. At the end of the process you will have a track ready to release and a good understanding of the fundamentals of the software.
You’ll have access to a wide range of analogue equipment throughout the course, meaning the results will be up to the highest of standards.
